This song is a tribute to my friend SSG Joe Suponcic. Joe was KIA in Kosovo December 15, 1999. I sat next to Joe in homeroom throughout High School. I remember being in History class with him.

Joe read a lot of books about the Army and talked about being a soldier. He enlisted when we left High School. He became a Green Beret and was involved in a peacekeeping mission in Kosovo.

I remember the last time I saw him around Christmas time at the Tiadaghton Inn in Jersey Shore, PA. We had a couple beers, talked about old times. Joe was very happy being a Green Beret.

When Christmas time rolls around I always think of Joe. This year was no different. So I decided to write this song for him. They used to write songs about fallen heroes. You don't hear those types of songs much anymore.

Anyway, this song is for you Joe.

Born for this mission

A young man with a gentle soul

Soldiers life, made my decision

The only life I will ever know

Now they call for me

To right the wrong to keep us free

You can count on me

The Ranger

Now they call for me

To fight the fight, to keep us free

No going home for me

The Ranger

Band of Brothers

We train hard all day

Strength from our Father

From this Hell we won't turn away

Now they call for me

To right the wrong, to keep us free

You can count on me

The Ranger

Now they call for me

To fight the fight, to keep us free

No going home for me

The Ranger

Battle on down below

Hear the trumpets call for me

Forward march but take it slow

One wrong step and we'll wake up

In Elysium, Elysium

It's still on the Battlefield

No enemy in sight

Maybe I can finally rest now

Start myself a brand new, Life

Now they call for me

To right the wrong, to keep us free

You can count on me

The Ranger

Now they call for me

To fight the fight, to keep us free

No going home for me

The Ranger

Now they call for me

Battle on down below

Hear the trumpets call for me

Forward march but take it slow

One wrong step and we'll wake up

In Elysium

Elysium, Elysium, Elysium, Elysium, Elysium

I don't know how to write a comment, that is profound as what you are doing or what you have done.

Thanks Steven! I’ve gotten some really nice comments on this song. Andrew Scheps put one of my promo vids for “The Ranger” on his Instagram story
